Windows software
EdgeQuick Lite
EdgeQuick Lite is Windows software from Modela. It reads your Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP devices and keeps their history on the PC, with charts and CSV or XLSX export. Sending readings to Modela AIoT Cloud is coming soon.
Version 1.0.2 · Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit)
01 / Overview
What EdgeQuick Lite does
It runs on a Windows PC next to your devices and turns their registers into named readings with units.
-
Reads your Modbus devices
Modbus RTU over RS-485 through a COM port, and Modbus TCP over your network. You name each reading and set its register, unit, scale and data type.
-
Backs up your device list to the cloud
Sign in with a Modela account in the desktop app on the gateway PC, then press “Save to Cloud” in Settings to save this gateway’s device list (connections and points) to your account. You can use the saved list again when you sign in on another gateway.
-
Sending readings to Modela AIoT Cloud
Coming soonFor now your readings stay on this PC. Sending them to Modela AIoT Cloud is coming soon.
-
History charts and export
Many Modbus meters and devices show only the present value and keep no history of their own. EdgeQuick Lite records history on the PC (on by default), shows it as charts by time range, and exports CSV or XLSX for one or several devices.
-
Runs in the background
It runs as a Windows service that starts with Windows, and it keeps reading your devices after you close the window.
-
Open it in a browser on your network
Turn on LAN access to open the management screen from another PC, tablet or phone on the same network. It is off by default and uses plain HTTP, so use it only on a trusted network.
-
Multi-language
Switch the app’s language on the sign-in page or in Settings → “Language”.
-
One-time sign-in, then guest mode
The first time you use EdgeQuick Lite on a gateway PC, sign in with a Modela account (email and password, or Google) in the desktop app. This needs an internet connection. After that you can also continue as a guest. Staying signed in lets you back up the device list.

02 / LAN / Wi-Fi access
Open it in a web browser on your network
Turn on LAN access on the gateway PC, and the management screen opens in the web browser of another PC, tablet or phone on the same network. Nothing needs to be installed on those devices.
-
Live readings
The Dashboard shows each device with its status and latest readings.
-
History charts
Chart a reading over a time range. The history is recorded on the gateway PC.
-
Export to CSV or XLSX
Export the history of one or several devices. The file downloads to the device you are using.
How to connect
- In the desktop app on the gateway PC, open Settings → “LAN / Wi-Fi access” and turn LAN access on. Windows asks for administrator confirmation, and the service restarts.
- On the other device, open one of the addresses listed on that card in a web browser. It looks like http://192.168.1.20:8443/ui, with your PC’s own address.
- Sign in with the “Username” and “Password” shown on the same card.
A phone can open it too, but the screen is laid out for larger displays, so a PC or tablet is more comfortable for everyday use.
Before you turn it on
- LAN access is off after installation. Until you turn it on, the management screen opens only on the gateway PC.
- As the app warns: “This connection uses plain HTTP, not HTTPS — use it only on a trusted network”.
- It works only inside your network: the firewall opens only for Private or Domain networks on the same subnet. It is not remote access over the internet.
- Users on the LAN can view and export data, add, edit or remove devices, and turn history recording on or off. They cannot write raw values, run maintenance actions or Bus Monitor, install updates, delete history data, change network settings, or read the LAN access password.
- Signing in with a Modela account and “Save to Cloud” work only in the desktop app on the gateway PC.

03 / Requirements
System requirements
Check these before you install.
- Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit (x64).
- A Windows account with administrator rights, to install and later to change LAN access or Raw Write.
- For Modbus RTU: an RS-485 connection that Windows shows as a COM port, for example a USB-to-RS-485 adapter.
- For Modbus TCP: network access from this PC to your devices (port 502 by default).
- Port 8443 on this PC must not be used by another program (management screen http://localhost:8443).
- Optional: for LAN / Wi-Fi access, the other devices must be on the same network and subnet as this PC, Windows must treat that network as Private or Domain, and each device needs a web browser.
- An internet connection for the first sign-in. On a gateway PC that has never been signed in, the desktop app cannot be used until a sign-in succeeds. After that, internet is needed only to sign in, back up your device list and check for updates; reading devices and keeping history on this PC work without one.
- A Modela account, to sign in once on each gateway PC before you start using it (create one free on modelaaiot.com). After that, the account is needed only to back up your device list.
- The PC must stay on for EdgeQuick Lite to keep reading your devices.
04 / Download
Download EdgeQuick Lite
The installer for Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit). The first start needs a Modela account and an internet connection (see System requirements). Read “Before you install” below this card first.

The file is downloaded from Modela’s update server, the same server EdgeQuick Lite uses to check for updates. The version, size and SHA-256 checksum on this card come from the update information the app reads from that server.
After installation the app appears as “Edge Click” in the Start menu and in Windows Settings → Apps. On screen it is called EdgeQuick Lite.
Before you install
The installer is not digitally signed: it has no code-signing certificate. Windows may warn you before it runs, and the Windows administrator prompt (User Account Control) shows the publisher as Unknown.
Your browser may also warn that the file is not commonly downloaded. Keep the file only if you downloaded it with the button on this page.
Before you open the file, check that it is complete and unchanged. Open Windows PowerShell and run the command below. It prints True only if the SHA-256 checksum of your file matches the checksum published on this page.
PowerShell command
(Get-FileHash -Algorithm SHA256 "$env:USERPROFILE\Downloads\EdgeClick-Setup-1.0.2.exe").Hash -eq "118b19fd28e6a73e11c43c5b955a21f69010bf48ba3c49e0bc2bc33f5c822f17" If you saved the file somewhere other than your Downloads folder, change the folder in the command before you run it.
If it prints False, do not open the file. Delete it and download it again. If you still get False, contact Modela.
If it prints True and Microsoft Defender SmartScreen shows “Windows protected your PC”, select “More info”, check that the app is EdgeClick-Setup-1.0.2.exe, and then select “Run anyway”. The wording on your screen may differ with your Windows version and language.
A matching checksum shows that your file is the same file Modela published on this page. It is not a digital signature, and it does not replace your organization’s own security checks.
